Mollina town has long narrow streets, with typical whitewashed houses, although within the province of Malaga is situated just a 15 minute drive from the beautiful ancient town of Antequera in the heart of Andalucia.
There is a large British population in Mollina and every Wednesday there is an "English" market.
Mollina is a wine growing area and produces wines and sherries and not to be missed in Mollino is the Feria de la Vendimia (Grape Harvest Fair) held on the second weekend in September on the Plaza de Atenas, where the different kinds of local wine from Tierras de Mollina, with Designation of Origin Málaga and Sierras de Málaga, are sampled. The origins of the Fair dates back to the 60s and at the beginning was called Feria del Barrio Alto, as it was held in the Barrio Alto, Mollina. With the passage of time and the growing importance of vine products, however, the celebrations expanded to cover the whole municipality. The present name was coined in 1987. During the feria residents and tourist are offered a city tour by bike, the bicycles are decorated with vine-inspired ornaments like vine leaves, grape bunches, etc., open-air parties on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the evening, a day fair at which traditional foods are served, while brass bands and Rocío choirs play music.

Wine matching competition
Since 2008, a wine matching competition has taken place in Mollina. It is a gastronomic event held in September aimed at presenting culinary specialities matching well with local wines. The competition is open to anyone who would like to enter.
Everyone awaits the Grape Harvest Fair’s opening speech with special interest, however. It is generally spoken by a distinguished literary figure. Among others, Antonio Gala, Fernando Quiñones, Caballero Bonald, Rosa Regás, and Espido Freire have been "pregoneros" in Mollina, so it is understandable that the "pregón" (opening speech) is considered the most remarkable event of all those that occur during these festivities.
As well as fine wines you’ll find many delightful local delicacies such as gachas de mosto (a soup made of flour and seasonings and, in this case, fresh grape juice), typical of the wine-harvesting season. As for confectionery items, the most traditional are pestiños (a sweet made of flour and beaten eggs), borrachuelos (a kind of sponge cake) and magdalenas (cupcakes), which are available throughout the year, as well as mantecados (shortcake).
