History Málaga’s history spans about 2,800 years, making it one of the oldest cities in the world.
Excavations have discovered evidence of the Carthaginians, the Romans and the Moors. As a result, there is a large selection of historical monuments in this city. Malaga’s cathedral is known as La Manquita, meaning “the little one armed lady”. Due to the length of time, which it took to build the cathedral, high on the hill above the city is  the Gibralfaro, a Moorish castle of great historical importance, with panoramic views over Malaga city and out across the port to sea.

The opening of the Picasso Museum in 2003 triggered the city’s cultural rebirth, and recent renovation of the Port, second busiest cruise port of the Iberian Peninsula,  visitors are now flocking to this city which is now so easily accessible with the high speed train and one of the biggest airports in Spain.
